According to a report of the blog 9to5mac.com Apple intensified its work on its own mapping service in order to partially solve the dependence on Google Maps. Current vacancies and number of acquisitions of smaller software companies suggest that Apple is the know-how into the house brings to possibly already with iOS 6 in summer or autumn of 2012 provide its own maps service.
According to data from 9to5mac.com Apple has taken over in August the 3D mapping specialists C3 Technologies to integrate the technology and the company's employees into its own development team.
